The mission of T&E Care is to maintain a network of people providing financial and other material assistance to persons in need in and around the Tredyffrin and Easttown township area.
HOLIDAY DRIVE 2013
The Ho-Ho-Holiday Drive has started! This drive requires LOTS of volunteers and LOTS of help sponsoring the families as the requests come in. We'll definitely need your help! Please take the time to check out our wishlists and lend a hand. Details can be found at the Holiday Drive 2013 page. The wish lists are now posted on our website!
Collections for this holiday drive will be accepted from November 13 - December 7!
We received this email on November 19, after just a week into the drive: I went to the website to see what was still needed and was brought to tears. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw all those items crossed off. Wow, is all I could think of, its so amazing to see that so many people care about others. I’m not sure if you hear this a lot but on behalf of all those families and mine I just want to say thank you for all that you and the T&E Care family do for others. It’s a blessing to know that there are so many people who have big enough hearts in this world to share with others.
Thanksgiving and Holiday Dinner Programs
Each year T&E Care volunteers help to provide dinners at both Thanksgiving and Christmas for 8 local families (8 families for each of the holidays). Each family receives the food needed for a complete holiday meal, plus a few extra bags of fresh produce, basic staples, and other special goodies. We thank those who offer to help each year to make this special event happen!
Dinner was cooked on Wednesday, November 27 at The Kitchen Workshop in Paoli, from 10-1. Thanks Art for sharing his facility with us again this year! We ended up doing 9 families this year!
Thanks to the Amana Foundation for providing 8 bags of fresh produce for these dinners, and to the Hayden Family for baking 8 pies! Thanks fo the many others who provided turkeys, and/or bags ofstaples and other special treats.
Thanks to Cindy Gilroy for organizing this event, and to all those who gave up time at a busy time of year to help with the cooking and delivering of food; and to Laura Pratt for organizing the specific family needs.
Here is the short story and note of thanks from one family who came to pick up their dinner supplies:
A lovely older woman came with her grown son to pick up their family meal. As we carried their bags to the car, she shared her current struggles in the midst of a very difficult divorce. "He's taking everything I had; I don't even own the clothes on my back", she said. But she has her kids and today, thanks to you, they are sharing a beautiful Thanksgiving meal. For this one day, her life is okay because you gave an hour or a turkey or a bag of food or a pie.
For more amazing thank you notes - go to our Wall of Care page!
Because everyone celebrates this holiday differently, food is not cooked for these dinners - we just collect the items and let the families do the cooking on the date they want.
Melanie Bradish and Tammy Small will be organizing this year's event.
Donations will be received and sorted on Friday, December 20, from 3:30-5:30. Location TBD.
Items needed include (for each of the 8 families):
turkey or ham
food for dinner: potatos/yams, fresh green beans/carrots, rolls, applesauce or cranberry sauce (depends on turkey or ham), stuffing (if turkey)
extra bag of fresh produce
a bag of items including: eggs, butter, cheese, bread/bagels, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, cereal, pancake mix, syrup, granola bars, pasta, jar sauce, etc. (Please, no canned soups or vegetables.) Please pack these items in a reusable bag as they are much less likely to rip in transportation.
Thanks to the Amana Foundation for providing 8 bags of fresh produce for these dinners (as well as for the Thanksgiving dinners)!
FALL FEST 2013 Presented by Zeke Capital Advisors Saturday, November 9, 2013
This year's major T&E Care fund raiser, Tropical Escape with T&E Care, was held on Nov. 9 at St. David's Golf Club and WOW what a great event it was. Anne Ferola and Cathy Duffy (event chairs) and their AMAZING committee really outdid themselves. The turnout was fantastic, the raffle and auction prizes amazing, the decorations gorgeous, the food delicious, and the band extraordinary. But even more important than that was the heartwarming support offered by so many. We are still working on the financial results of the event, but with the great sponsors and wonderful responses by so many, we are sure that there will be a very successful outcome! Please check →HERE← for many more details about the event. Check out the amazing video created by Brenda Carpenter, too!
If you have the ability to help with any of these VERY important needs for a few of our local families - please let us know. The power of "community" can often make the impossible possible!
Kids or Baby Items: none at this time
Appliances/Furniture: Please contact us if you can help with any of these:
A middle school girl wants to learn to sew. Anyone have a nice sewing machine to offer? 11/12/13
A mom contacted us asking for a gas dryer - her motor went and she really needs one ASAP. 11/2/13
We are getting dangerously low on computers in our inventory. If you have a PC or laptop that you are interested in donating, let us know ASAP. They should be current enough to handle the Windows 7 operating system. (If you know of any businesses that are upgrading we can take the old units - that is often a great option for us!) We could also use a few more mice (with USB connections).10/28/13
A single lady (older) needs a winter coat. She's a size 2XL. 10/26/13
(See Donating Cars and Services page for more information.) We know of a numerous local families who are desperate to get a "new" car. Some of these families currently have cars, but the cars are FALLING apart and unsafe to drive. If they lose the car, they lose their jobs. They can't pay their rent without getting to work. The cycle begins. Getting a "new" car will stop the tailspin before things get out of control. Some families RIGHT IN OUR AREA have no car and this is limiting their housing and job options because they can only look for housing and jobs on a transportation line. If you have a car that works well that you would like to sell cheap or donate to a local family, please let us know. We will work with you on applying for a tax deduction for this donation. This would be a great opportunity to get a special tax deduction while truly changing a family's life.
If you can help out with anything requested on this page - please email us at email@example.com. THANKS!

T&E Care Is Now Able to Accept Donations of Stock Starting in July 2013 T&E Care is set up to be able to accept donations of stock. Giving long-term (owned more than a year), appreciated securities may provide a great benefit to you and Tredyffrin & Easttown Care. First, you will receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities as long as you have owned them for at least one year. Second, you avoid the capital gains tax that you would owe if you sold these securities. See more information about donating securities, by clicking on the certificate on the right.
Click HERE for more information on donating stock to T&E Care.
Making a donation to T&E Care in lieu of a gift
Are you struggling to think of the perfect gift for the person on your list who has everything? Consider making a donation to T&E Care in his/her name? This option is always available - at the holidays or anytime of year. Information on making donations to honor others can be found on our donations page. A letter will be sent to your recipient alerting them of your kind donation (or we can send a card to you for you to wrap and give yourself).
Thanks for considering this option.
Many THANKS for the recent donations ....
November 2013 - Complete Thanksgiving dinners were again provided to 9 local families on Wednesday, Nov. 27. A million thanks to Cindy Gilroy for coordinating the donations and volunteers, and to Laura Pratt for confirming the family needs. SPECIAL thanks once again to Art Roman of The Kitchen Workshop in Paoli for providing the space and food needed to propare the dinners. What a treasure he is for our community!! A round of applause again to the students and families of the Amana Foundation for providing the fresh produce for the event, and to the Hayden family for baking all the pies needed to feed ALL the families. MANY others donated food and/or time to help with this important event.
November 2013 - Special thanks to Trinty Presbyterian Church for their recent surprise donation to T&E Care! What a nice treat to receive in the mail!
September 2013 - Super thanks to the Kistler-Tiffany Foundation for their recent grant in support of our Home & Hearth Program. This is terrific help!
September 2013 - The Yang family offered us the funds from the restitution check for the incident that occurred involving Mr. Yang in January 2012. What an amazing gesture!
September 2013 - Many thanks to Pete's Auto (Malvern) for donating the inspection for a recently donated car to T&E Care. Because of that savings, we were able to do some repairs to the car and found a family that needed the car!
August 2013 - Many thanks for another donation from the Tredyffrin Township Police Association! Their continued support of our organization is always appreciated!
August 2013 - Thanks to all those groups and individuals that gave special assistance for the School Supply Drive: Panera Bread for donating delicious bagels and coffee for the volunteers, to Johnson Matthey for their continued support of our drive with a ton of gift cards, supplies, and general donations, and to Re/Max Main Line Charitable Foundations for their generous gift card donations. A grant from the Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown (FLITE) helped us purchase good qualify backpacks for the older kids. And extra inventory supplies were provided by Stuart Clark (cases of binders) and Dave Hyett's 4th grade class at DES were much appreciated! Our sincere appreciation also to Conestoga High School for once again opening their cafeteria to our volunteers for sorting, and to the custodians who will help move the items around to the various schools. And of course - we can't give enough thanks to all those adults and students who came to CHS on August 1 to help sort - what a big group. The sorting took only about 3 hours!
